Bring Autumn color into your home with this simple but trendy pumpkin. It would make a great centerpiece for a small kitchen table or could be displayed on a shelf with other fall themed items; as shown in the images. It's just a small bit of color to add to your home for the season.
My mom hand stitched the pumpkin using DMC perle cotton embroidery thread as well as DMC six strand embroidery floss for the stem, star, and border. She used Mill Hill beads to finish out the pumpkin and then gave it to me.
I considered many different ways to finish this pumpkin but finally settled on a cube. I centered the project on a styrofoam cube and pinned the project in place with dressmaker needles. I used some black gingham cloth, that matched the design, for the backing and side band. I had a bit of green ribbon left that I hot glued around the sides. I created a sparkly orange ribbon bow that was pinned into place. I hot glued a black gingham button to the top of the bow just to give a special touch. Finally, the legs were from wooden beads and gold seed beads on a dressmaker pin that were then pushed into the styrofoam.
